What is electrostatic powder coating?

Powder coating is a dry, fine powder applied to a metal surface and baked in an oven into a tough, decorative finish. It contains no solvents.

What is electrostatic powder coating?
  1. 01

    Surface preparation

The part is cleaned of oil, dirt and rust: adhesion depends on it.

  2. 02

    Electrostatic spraying

The gun charges the powder particles; the earthed part pulls the powder evenly onto every face.

  3. 03

    Curing

The part is baked at about 200 °C; the powder melts, flows and cross-links into one solid film.

  4. 04

    Cooling and inspection

Once cool, colour, surface and coating thickness are checked.

Why powder coating?

  • Durable: a thicker, harder film than wet paint, resisting impact, scratches and corrosion.
  • Cleaner: no solvents, and overspray powder can be collected and reused.
  • Wide colour range: matt, satin and gloss finishes from the RAL chart.
  • Even finish: a uniform, run-free coat in a single pass.

Why does powder coating last longer than wet paint?
