Laser Welding

We join metal parts with a focused laser beam: narrow, neat welds with little heat input, so thin sheet barely distorts.

What is laser welding?

In laser welding a high-energy laser beam is focused onto a very small spot and melts the metal along the joint; as the melt cools the parts fuse into one. Because the heat stays in a narrow zone, the part warms up less and distortion and discolouration drop.

The seam is thin and even, so there is less grinding and straightening after welding. That makes laser welding the choice for thin sheet, visible seams and parts that must hold tight dimensions.

What is laser welding?

Why laser welding

Narrow, even seams

The focused beam leaves a thin seam that looks clean on visible faces.

Low heat input

Heat stays in a narrow zone, so distortion and discolouration drop.

Little grinding

A clean seam shortens grinding and straightening after welding.

Holds its size

With less distortion the part keeps its dimensions, part after part.

Fast production

High welding speed shortens production time, especially on thin sheet.

Laser welding questions

What is laser welding good for?

Thin sheet, stainless boxes and enclosures, decorative products with visible seams and parts that must hold tight dimensions.

Does the part distort with laser welding?

Heat stays in a narrow zone, so there is far less distortion than with conventional methods, especially on thin sheet.

Is grinding needed after laser welding?

The seam is thin and even, so light grinding is usually enough. We can also do the weld cleaning and surface finishing.
